The Nation's 5k is a project launched by community leader Esmée Gummer.

She's taking a free 5k club to every city in the UK, arriving at each city on foot by running 5,000km to the 77 events over 99 days.

The project has been launched to help everyone move with their community. Esmée strongly believes that moving is the best thing we can do for our health and happiness, having re-learned to walk after paralysis and going on to run some of the most extreme endurance events in the world. But she's always been gutted that other people haven't had access to the privilege, endorphins and community that movement brings.

She successfully runs a weekly 5k run club in East London, where she frequently hears stories from members about how she, her club and running in general has changed their life. She wanted to help as many people experience that as possible, hence her decision to host run clubs in every city and hopefully reach her goal of helping 1 million people do a 5k this summer. She hopes that by turning up to people's doorsteps, she will reduce the barrier to entry for movement and bring reality and real life community to those who need it most.
